History
I began with computers in 1983, when I met one of my life long friends. I had just gotten my ham radio license for a few months while had just received his license after passing the required exams. I took my radio over to his house so he could get on the air for a little while. Not having a computer myself, I became instantly fascinated with his radio shack color computer. I cut a deal: He keeps my radio for a week and I keep his computer for a week. He agreed. Both of us had a blast.
His computer was one of those old gray TRS-80 color computers with 16K of RAM that he had upgraded to 32K. That's K. Kilobytes. Not Meg, Not Gig. K. You hooked the computer to a color TV. It was 32 columns wide and 16 lines of all upper-case text. No windows. No mice. No disks.
In 1989, I got a job working for a man named David Smith, who became my mentor for this field. Sadly, he passed away in 1991 and didn't even get to see the "Pentium." It was during this job that I learned UNIX. That's why I'm considered old school.
In 1994, I moved to Cincinnati. I have been doing high-end consulting and support work for clients in the Cincinnati area now for almost sixteen years. Many of my clients have faithfully followed me from one consulting and support firm to the next. As of March 2010, I will have been running Dentar, Inc. longer than my previous Cincinnati jobs combined.
Having created these great relationships has inspired me to go into business so that I could nurture them on my own. Dentar, Inc. was incorporated April 24, 2002 to enable clients to receive full time support.
